“Waste-to-Energy” is EVN’s concept for an environmentally sound waste disposal system. Through its thermal waste utilisation plants at Zwentendorf/Lower Austria and Moscow/Russia, it has put into working practice a unique concept: combining environmentally safe waste disposal with utilising the energy trapped in the garbage in order to generate electricity and district heating: the use of waste as an alternative source of energy goes easy on other resources and is thus a sensible road into the future.
