Roofing ceremony

On 12 September 2002, EVN Abfallverwertung NÖ organised the traditional builder’s treat to celebrate the topping-out of the thermal waste utilisation plant at Zwentendorf/Dürnrohr.

Almost a thousand guests came to the party, among them not just the 300 construction workers from PORR and all its subcontractors in whose honour the party was organised by EVN Abfallverwertung NÖ as a sign of appreciation, but also a large number of villagers from Zwentendorf, among them the young journalistic talents from the local elementary school, the gendarmerie, fire brigade and, not least, the Zwentendorf band who provided for musical entertainment.

The party naturally also included many distinguished guests of honour, led by Dr. Erwin Pröll, governor of Lower Austria, who held the ceremonial address, tapped the first beer keg and joined the musicians in serenading the party.
After the official ceremony, EVN Abfallverwertung NÖ asked the guests to enjoy a hearty lunch and tour the site.

Visitors could check for themselves that the work is progressing right on schedule and that completion can be expected in the spring of 2003. This will be followed by the start-up process and trial operation of six months, so that there should not be any obstacle to full operation commencing on 1 January 2004.
